In the mid 1960’s, the Pen-y-Coe Press moved into the town’s former Post Office at No 7 Bridge Street. Aspects of the Edwardian Post Office remain, including devices that allowed the policeman on his night-time beat to check for burglars. Visitors will be able to see the small museum gallery, with displays illustrating the development of hand-made and machine made paper, an 1872 Josiah Wade Arab press and a Heidelburg press.
It will be open on Saturday 12 September 10–4, for this year’s Doors Opne Day. There will also be an opportunityto try your hand at making a sheet of paper (small groups at 11am and2pm).
For more details see the Midlothian section of the Doors Open Day website.
