Printing in Scotland and Doors Open Days

Sep­tem­ber is Doors Open Day in Scot­land. This year’s pro­gramme includes some print­ers and a num­ber of oth­er places asso­ci­at­ed with the indus­try that are open to the public.

On Sat­ur­day 7 and Sun­day 8 Sep­tem­ber, Glad­stone Court Muse­um in Big­gar is open. The dis­plays include a print­ing shop.

On Sat­ur­day 14 Sep­tem­ber, the Pen-y-Coe Press in Penicuik will be open to the pub­lic with demon­stra­tions of both print­ing and paper­mak­ing. The Cham­bers Insti­tute in Pee­bles, orig­i­nal­ly estab­lished by the Edin­burgh print­er and pub­lish­er, William Cham­bers is also open on Sat­ur­day 14 September.

On Sun­day 15 Sep­tem­ber, the Envi­ron­men­tal Edu­ca­tion Cen­tre run by the paper­mak­ing firm Tullis Rus­sell, in Mark­inch in Fife is open.

On the morn­ing of Sat­ur­day 21 Sep­tem­ber, you can tour the works of Far­quhar & Son, Print­ers St Andrew Street Perth, and the Quar­to Press, in Coupar Angus will be open to the pub­lic on both Sat­ur­day 21 Sep­tem­ber and Sun­day 22 September.
