September is Doors Open Day in Scotland. This year’s programme includes some printers and a number of other places associated with the industry that are open to the public.
On Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 September, Gladstone Court Museum in Biggar is open. The displays include a printing shop.
On Saturday 14 September, the Pen-y-Coe Press in Penicuik will be open to the public with demonstrations of both printing and papermaking. The Chambers Institute in Peebles, originally established by the Edinburgh printer and publisher, William Chambers is also open on Saturday 14 September.
On Sunday 15 September, the Environmental Education Centre run by the papermaking firm Tullis Russell, in Markinch in Fife is open.
On the morning of Saturday 21 September, you can tour the works of Farquhar & Son, Printers St Andrew Street Perth, and the Quarto Press, in Coupar Angus will be open to the public on both Saturday 21 September and Sunday 22 September.
