The Pen-y-Coe Press in Bridge Street, Penicuik is open for Midlothian’s Doors Open Day on Sat­ur­day 10th Sep­tem­ber 2016. There will be paper­mak­ing and let­ter­press print­ing demon­stra­tions at 11am and 2pm, and the press will be open to vis­i­tors from 10–4. The Nation­al Library of Scot­land is host­ing a dis­play of lim­it­ed edi­tion let­ter­press posters from 1 April to 2 May at their build­ing on George IV Bridge. Vintage presses

Ear­li­er in Octo­ber, an arti­cle by Har­ry Mot­tram appeared in Print Month­ly on ‘print indus­try arti­sans who know their ems from their ens’. He writes about the ‘vin­tage press­es’ which are keep­ing tra­di­tion­al print­ing skills alive.  Some are oper­at­ing machines dat­ing back to the mid-nine­­teenth cen­tu­ry.
